Disaster relief

Disaster relief refers to the assistance provided to people and communities affected by natural or man-made disasters such as floods, earthquakes, fires, or conflicts. It includes the immediate supply of food, clean water, shelter, medical care, and other essential services to reduce suffering and save lives. Disaster relief also involves supporting recovery efforts by helping communities rebuild homes, restore livelihoods, and strengthen resilience to future disasters. Effective disaster relief requires coordination between governments, organizations, and volunteers to ensure timely and fair assistance to those in need.

Past Projects

In late November 2025, Sri Lanka experienced some of its worst flooding and landslides in decades after Cyclone Ditwah brought extremely heavy rain across the island, affecting more than 1.4 million people and displacing hundreds of thousands from their homes.

In response, devotees of the Buddha Meditation Centre along with the charitable organizations like We Care For You charity in Canada and Tawathinsa Yathra in Sri Lanka managed to help some people who were effected by the disaster.
